The group has been chosen by the Scottish Court Service to undertake the refurbishment of Parliament House in Edinburgh. The Grade A listed building dates back to 1630 and was the home of the Scottish Parliament until 1707. The first phase of the project, including the replacement of the building’s wiring, water pipes, heating and ventilation systems, as well as the sympathetic refurbishment of two courtrooms, will be completed by October 2009.
Meanwhile in Livingston, West Lothian, Interserve will undertake an extensive refurbishment and extension of Inveralmond Community High School for West Lothian Council. The project, valued at £15 million, will be completed without disruption to the running of the school.
In Renfrew, Interserve will design and build a new Health and Social Work Centre for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. This new building will dramatically improve access for patients and staff to local healthcare facilities.
Speaking of the contract covering Parliament House, John Vyse, Executive Director of Interserve, said: “It is an honour to be working on such an historic building. Our challenge is to bring the building into the 21st century, while also retaining and taking inspiration from its outstanding architectural features.”
