Civils Works for London River Services (part of Transport for London)
The project included removal, off-site refurbishment and reinstatement of the existing floating pier facility. Interserve designed and implemented a system of temporary moorings to enable the work to be undertaken in two stages, thus maintaining part of the pier in operation at all times.
Seven pontoons were modified, repaired, strengthened and painted, plus new cathodic protection and new fender systems were fitted. Two of the 30m brows were refurbished at Interserve's regional depot, two others replaced - one by a new fabricated double-width brow and one by a mechanised disabled access 'Ramp Rider' brow - the first such brow in Europe.
Other works included the installation of a passenger shelter on the pier, ancillary work on the bankseats and the renewal of M&E services.
