Charlton Lane Waste Transfer Station, Shepperton

for Surrey Waste Management (now S.I.T.A.)

A design and construct contract involving the reconstruction of an existing waste transfer station and civic amenity site.

The works included the demolition of a house and the construction of a new refuse transfer building of some 2880m2.  This consisted of a steel portal frame with integrated concrete column and stone column foundations and a composite slab with micro-silica concrete - constructed over and encapsulating contaminated ground, to avoid the need for removal of 4500m3.  The project also included a weigh-bridge/office extension and associated hard-standing, parking areas and drainage.

The works were carried out whilst access was maintained to enable the general public to continue using the existing facility.

Procurement Route: Design Build
