The works comprised resurfacing of the southbound and northbound carriageways and the internal slip-roads of the A1(M) between junctions 8 & 7. Five underbridges required their bridge decks to be exposed and re-waterproofed Interserve allowed another Contractor to utilize the Traffic Management to raise the surface levels of the filter drains
The scheme included the following works:
- Planing of the carriageways
- Resurfacing with 30mm TSCS and varying thicknesses of Binder Course
- Crack Repairs
- Road Markings & Studs
- Detector Loops
- Underbridge Re-waterproofing
- 5 No locations where short lengths of safety barrier were replaced
The finished road surface level was generally raised by 30mm, except at the structures.
