Temporary Works Senior Design Engineer

Summary of the role

The design and /or checking of temporary works schemes for the whole of IPSL's UK operations for both contract and tender teams.

 

Key Tasks

  • Production of designs, calculations, sketches and documents and/or checks of temporary works schemes;
  • Supervision of other Engineers;
  • Assist in the administration of the company and departmental procedures as required;
  • Conduct training on temporary works procedures as part of IPSL's in-house training programmes;
  • Liaison with clients, site staff, subcontractors and proprietary suppliers for the delivery of schemes to agreed timetables and costs;
  • Able to keep abreast of new techniques, design codes, best practice and safety issues relating to Temporary Works

  • Good verbal and written English, presentable with good time keeping
  • Able to represent the department in a professional manner;
  • Negotiation and influencing skills;
  • Professional Integrity with wish to continue the development of their own skills;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office;
  • Able to communicate effectively with a range of clients;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Manage own work within programme deadlines;
  • Ability to manage and develop staff;
  • Aptitude for training and coaching other members of staff;
  • Able to work effectively within a team.

 

 

 

Qualifications, Training and Experience
An engineer with proven ability in structural design.

Experience of working within a design office of a contractor, consultant or temporary works equipment supplier.

Experience of delivering training to internal staff on temporary works is essential.

Some site experience would be an advantage.
