Construction Manager

Summary of role

Could be based on either a large complex Project, reporting to a resident or visiting Project Manager or independently on a medium sized Project with responsibility for the management and success of a project, including customer relations, health and safety, quality, environmental, programme and the cost/value of operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Manager is responsible for fulfilling the assigned activities in the appropriate process, including:

 

·        Maintaining effective and long term relationships with the customer and his representatives/advisors.

·        Implementing and maintaining GCC Strategy and Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development etc. and acting as an exemplar of the GCC culture and values.

·         Ensuring the project team comply with the Company's Business management System.

·         Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems.

·         Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc in order to maximise commercial profitability.

·        Managing, supporting, mentoring and counselling members of the project team in their personal development.

·         Undertaking annual assessments for staff directly reporting to the role.

·        Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement.

·        Providing aftercare services to the customer.

·         Allocation of duties to sub-ordinates.

·        Maintenance and monitoring of contract and short term programme.

·         Resource management.

·         Productivity.

·         Sub-Contract management.

·         Any other duties relevant to the role.

 

Key skills /qualifications

 

·         High level of leadership and management skills

·         Technical experience and knowledge

·         Commercial and financial ability

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·         Team Player

 

Relevant Experience

 

·         Experience in a similar role

·         Experience as a Civil Engineer or similar

·         Experience of working abroad

 

Additional information

 

This post is initially fixed term for a period of two years.  A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications and Specialist Skills

 

·         Degree (or equivalent) in appropriate subject

·         Professional Qualification (desirable)

·         CITB Level 3 Safety Course

·         Programming skills
