Project Services > Careers > JD COMEDULEEDS Commercial Manager Summary of role To lead on all Commercial aspects of developing and executing Building Schools for the Future projects on behalf of the Local Education Partnership (LEP) as part of the Interserve Education team. This includes the individual in both the negotiation of contracts and providing advice to LEP General Managers on live projects. Key tasks include leading the negotiations on contracts with central and local government, subcontracts and supply chain agreements and managing key risk issues on behalf of Interserve and the LEP. Additional responsibilities include managing the financial structuring and resourcing of the LEP and its SPV's. Key Responsibilities Tasks fall into the six key areas: 1. Finance Structure of both LEP and SPV's 2. Legal negotiations 3. Delivery of written bid proposal 4. Respond to written clarifications from the Client and PfS 5. Prepare and present summaries of Bid submissions to Clients 6. Cost control Skills & Experience - Strong Communicator- An ability to communicate positions both internally and with external clients. The candidate must have the ability to present information both orally and in writing, in a clear and convincing manner. - Strong Analytical Mind The candidate must be able to interpret, analyse and deal with large volumes of commercial, legal and financial information, in a diligent and well-ordered manner. - Measured approach in negotiations, strong verbal reasoning skills Project financed/PFI projects involve dealing with multiple parties, often with conflicting interests. The candidate should be capable of taking a lead role in internal and external negotiations and be capable of adopting a measured approach to find solutions acceptable to all parties. - Can Do Approach the candidate should have a solution orientated approach and be prepared to be innovative and forward-thinking in adopting or creating new solutions to different project contexts. - Team Player The role would suit an individual who enjoys playing a lead role in a team environment and who is ambitious both for the team and for himself/herself. The candidate should actively want to develop new skills and will be given every opportunity to do so but working alongside senior executives within IPSL and with IPSL's senior professional and financial advisors. - Understand project finance/PFI finance structures - Understand project finance/PFI legal structures - Worked in project finance/PFI sector managing either the legal and commercial aspects or the financial aspects of bids. The role may well suit a qualified accountant or lawyer looking to combine their professional skills with a more all-round commercial role. - Experience of project finance/PFI environments essential - Good understanding of the key commercial and contractual issues on large scale infrastructure projects, including the allocation of risks in relation to the Design and Build, Facilities Management and Information Technology arrangements.
