Interserve Preferred Bidder for £45 Million St Helen's College, Merseyside

26 Sep 2007

Interserve has been selected as preferred bidder by the governors of St Helen's College for the development of the new St Helen's College in Merseyside. Construction of the £45 million scheme is due to commence in February 2008.

The college was founded in 1896 and is one of the finest providers of further and higher education in the north-west, providing full- and part-time courses for adults and school leavers as well as community courses.

The scheme involves the construction of a new college and the demolition of existing buildings. The total area to be constructed is over 17,500 m², with new facilities such as a restaurant, kitchens, food court, supported learning, theatre, hospitality, science labs, IT, systems and technology, art rooms, hair and beauty suite, fitness suites, sports science, youth studies, staff rooms and administration areas.

Adrian Ringrose, Chief Executive of Interserve Plc, remarked, "This is a prime example of how we are able to work with the local community to provide new facilities that they will be proud to use. We have a solid track record in the education sector and this project consolidates our position as a leading constructor of education establishments."
