These private-sector contracts, with a duration of between one and five years, will play an important part in underpinning the division’s continuing growth strategy. The awards include the renewal of the major contract for the provision of Integrated Maintenance and Shutdown Support Services for BP at Hull. This unique and innovative agreement is founded on a fully integrated management structure consisting of BP and Interserve resources. Interserve has also won the contract for specialist work on the High Integrity Pipework and Support Fabrication project at BP’s new ‘Clean Fuels Plant’ in Coryton, Essex, where it will operate on behalf of the project’s alliance team. In addition to the above, British Nuclear Fuels plc (BNFL) has awarded Interserve two contracts at Sellafield: the Infrastructure Improvement contract at its B38 facility; and a Care and Maintenance Term contract for the Sellafield Drypack Plant (SDP) and Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP). The B38 project will work on an “alliance basis”, embodying many of the principals recommended by Sir Michael Latham and Sir John Egan in their reports advocating partnership between clients and contractors. Both BNFL and Interserve expect to benefit in future contracts from applying the highly innovative practices introduced here. Discussing the string of successes Stewart Hagerty, Interserve Industrial Services Managing Director, commented, “We’re finding increasingly that term maintenance contracts such as these offer significant advantages both for our clients and for us. They ensure that our clients get a knowledgeable and dedicated team delivering a reliable, consistent service, and give us good visibility of future workload which helps us plan our resources more efficiently.” |
