The model was then transferred to Hadley library on 16th December to form part of a mini-exhibition on future plans and the preliminary work which is now underway on the site to prepare it for the main construction phase.
Immediate work completed includes fencing the whole site, ensuring 24 hour security and upgrading the footpath from Ketley Railway Bridge to Haybridge Avenue, providing improved access from Ketley to the Hadley schools.
The next stage sees the site being remodelled in preparation for future building work, landscaping and planting. This means the footpath from Ketley Railway Bridge to Waterloo Road and Blackie’s Lane, which crosses the site, will be temporarily closed for health and safety reasons and then upgraded before re-opening in summer 2005 and 2006 respectively.
Borough of Telford & Wrekin’s cabinet member for education Councillor Peggie Harrison said: “ Everyone is very excited now that things are talking shape on the ground. We are all looking forward to seeing the building work start in the new year and involving local people and schools in developments.”
Interserve will continue to update and inform the local community throughout the construction phase.
