PFI Investments > News > Interserve Breaks New Ground At Telford and Wrekin Schools Interserve Breaks New Ground At Telford & Wrekin Schools 12 Nov 2004 Interserve has today broken ground at the Hadley Learning Community Project in Telford & Wrekin, where Local Borough Councillors joined Interserve team members on site to mark the commencement of early works for the project. The main construction phase of the project will start early in the new year, however some early works have already begun, to include fencing the site, setting up of a compound near Waterloo Road and constructing an access road adjacent to the railway line from Waterloo Road. Interserve has informed the local residents and will be keeping them informed throughout the construction process. Local Borough councillors Keith Austin and D.D. Ahir joined Senior Project Manager Gareth Edwards and Divisional Director Ian Renhard from Interserve (the company selected by the Borough of Telford & Wrekin to build and maintain the new facility) to cut the first sod for this ground-breaking project. Due to open in September 2006, the site will see a new state-of-the-art 1200 place secondary school, with engineering specialist status to help students, local firms and employees develop their skills and know-how; a 420 place primary school with a whole range of early year's provision including a nursery school and a 152 place special school (also with nursery) providing quality accommodation and resources for pupils aged 4-19 years with profound learning difficulties. The campus will also provide a children's centre offering education, social and health care plus quality arts, sports and community facilities. Councillor Keith Austin said: " The Hadley Learning Community represents a real step forward in providing first class facilities for the area. " Councillor Ahir said: " We are all looking forward to seeing the buildings take shape as this exciting project gets off the ground." Bob Vince, Operations Director at Interserve, said, "The project has got off to a good start and we're pleased to be breaking ground at this stage. This is the beginning of a significant development that will provide a valuable amenity for the area."
