Interserve Cleaner Receives Commendation

3 Sep 2002

Michael Doogan, a cleaner with Interserve (Facilities Services – Slough) ltd has been awarded a commendation for his outstanding work by Slough's Mayor, Councillor Satpal Singh Parmar. Michael was employed by Slough Borough Council from June 1997 and transferred to Interserve on 1 November 2001.

Michael was nominated for the award by users of the Brunel Car Park, which he cleans, in recognition of his consistently cheerful and helpful disposition, even in difficult situations. The commendation was awarded at Slough Town Hall, on Tuesday 23 July 2002, when the Mayor noted that Michael's daily chores involved tasks that many people would never undertake.

Michael said "I am over the moon!  It is really nice to feel appreciated.  I have never received any type of award and it is a great honour to receive this commendation."

Pam Escott, Building Cleaning Manager for Interserve, attended the presentation with Michael and said "Michael has done himself and us proud.  We work in very difficult circumstances and people usually only notice cleaners when things haven't been done.  It is fantastic that Michael has received this award.  He deserves the recognition."
