In this role, Interservefm is taking responsibility for all non-production-related facilities, allowing Lilly to concentrate on its core business. The transfer of these responsibilities has been phased over a six-month period and followed several months ground work on site before the contract came into force. Phase 1 is now complete, with Interservefm taking on the general cleaning, production cleaning, scaffolding, security, canteen, laundry and coat hire. During Phase 2, in the second quarter of the year, general and engineering stores, raw materials stores, term maintenance, HVAC systems and water/effluent sampling will be added to Interservefm's role. Safety equipment, stationery and supplies, gardening and the co-ordination of carpentry will also be transferred during this phase. By the end of January 2001, all support services will fall within Interservefm's sphere of responsibilities, with clearly established and understood service level agreements. The contract will be for three years with an option for a further two years after the initial period (5 years in total). Darin Moody, Lilly's General Manager for the Speke site commented that, "The drive for outsourced services has gained momentum very recently as Lilly look to concentrate and major on its own business activities. Working smarter and safer but with cost effectiveness high on the agenda, we saw Interservefm Ltd as the ideal company with their sector led, integrated approach to service provision, to enable us to begin to achieve our ultimate aims." Paul Taylor, Interservefm's UK Director of Business Development, added that he was "particularly pleased that Eli Lilly and Company Limited had signed up to Interservefm's integrated approach to service provision. This coupled with both parties willingness to promote total transparency of cost during negotiations has culminated in the signing of a contract which should cement a long and mutually beneficial agreement between our two organsiations".
"We have worked very closely with the Lilly Facilities Management team to ensure a trouble-free transfer of roles at the site," added Glyn Pessol, Interservefm's Account Manager for Lilly. "The first phase has been completed very satisfactorily and we have every confidence that the remainder of the services will be taken under our wing just as smoothly," he added.
