Facilities Services > News > Interserve wins top RoSPA awards Interserve wins top RoSPA awards 6 Jun 2007 Interserve has scooped 14 top accolades at the prestigious 2007 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Awards. The highlight of the evening was when Interserve’s MacLellan brand picked up the overall Facilities Management Sector Award, which recognises those organisations that have demonstrated the most outstanding health and safety management performance in their industry. Interserve Industrial Services was also Highly Commended in the Engineering Construction Industry Sector Award Category. Further award wins included:
Paul Richards, Head of QSHE, commented, “It’s a tremendous achievement to have won the FM Sector Award, been Highly Commended in another strategically important sector, received recognition of our ongoing track record through the President’s Award and the Gold Medal, and achieved a further nine Gold Awards. “At Interserve we place great importance on health and safety, which is evident through the comprehensive systems we operate. These awards demonstrate to both our clients and our own teams our commitment to attaining the highest levels of health and safety within working environments - it is a fantastic achievement for all concerned.” Interserve is accredited to a number of Quality, Safety and Health and Environmental Management standards (ISO 9001:2000, 18001 and 14001). To date, it has 64 trained trainers in Health and Safety in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health three-day residential course and is licensed to run the Safety Passport Alliance (SPA) safety passport scheme as well as a number of IOSH Accredited courses. In addition Interserve has developed its own in-house training packages to be accredited by IOSH, including Working at Height Awareness and the Facilities Manager Awareness Course. Interserve is a member of the SAFEContractor Scheme and has developed its own initiative ‘Don’t Walk By’ - a reminder that organisations need to use the experience and eyes of every employee to make sure that the working environment is hazard and accident free. The 2007 RoSPA Awards presentation ceremony took place on Wednesday 23rd May at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the NEC. The presentations were made by Baroness Gibson of Market Rasen, President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Lord Jordan of Bournville, Deputy President, Lord Brougham and Vaux, Vice-President, and Tom Mullarkey, RoSPA Chief Executive. |
