This was the first open market commercial competition for FM services at the site. "world famous ... defence research centre" Services to be supplied within the contract, over a period of four years and seven months, encompass both hard and soft facilities management services. Optional services that the client may procure from a schedule of rates directory are expected to increase the value of the contract even further. There is also the option of a five-year extension to the contract. More than half of the 7000-acre site is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) - hence a high level of environmental awareness in maintaining the site is essential. Buildings covered under the contract range from simple cellular and open plan offices through to complex laboratories, varying in age and style from the1900s to the ultra modern. Interserve's operations will include all maintenance of mechanical and electrical services, building fabric and grounds; along with new works, catering, cleaning, laundry, transport, security support, post room, occupational health and waste services. Additional services cover site administration, imagery and reprographics, fire services and equipment and furniture movement. |
