Interserve extends contract with Her Majesty's Court Service

22 Feb 2008

Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) has renewed its cleaning contract with Interserve (operating as MacLellan), for the whole of the service’s London region.

The contract, which was originally negotiated in 1999, is unusual since not only does Interserve provide traditional cleaning, consisting of office cleaning, day janitors, window cleaning, and floor cleaning, but they also provide a deep clean service to the cells.

The renewal of the contract announced this month also sees a doubling of Interserve’s remit with all Crown Courts; Combined Court Centres; County Courts; Magistrates Courts and Tribunal Buildings within Metropolitan London being included.  Over 500 staff are expected to be employed through the extended contract.

Jane Speyers, Divisional Director of MacLellan Cleaning, a division of Interserve, commented on the contract renewal:

“This extension is well deserved and serves as testament to our staff that HMCS has such faith to not only renew the contract, but also extend it.  I am delighted that our experience has proved our capability, and that we have been given the opportunity to show them how much more we are capable of.”

David Wiggins of HMCS added:

“We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Interserve. We have a lot of confidence in their capabilities and the company’s performance to date has been well above standard. Regular meetings and an excellent day to day relationship with the courts have ensured a quick response to whatever we ask.”
