RMD Kwikform took the plunge at Dubai's aquapark

RMD KWIKFORM played a major part on one of the Gulf's most prestigious contracts. The company's Rapid Stage support and decking system was selected for the construction of the new Aquapark at the Jumeira Beach Resort in Dubai.

The contract was won in the face of stiff international competition and was a very practical demonstration of the advantages of using its Rapid Stage system. The project demanded very fast construction; complex support requirements were imposed by the project's consultant structural engineer, and the design called for widely differing propping heights.

The 650mm thick solid roof slabs were constructed using Rapid Stage, supported off a lower level suspended floor. The Rapid Stage supports were positioned to locate precisely over the ribs in this floor – to avoid the lightweight trough area – to ensure the satisfactory transference of the load onto accurately positioned back props below the suspended floor. The complex design also meant that the roof support heights varied between 2.7 metres and 6 metres.

To complete the Aquapark project, RMD KWIKFORM produced in excess of 100 detailed CAD-produced drawings and, at its peak over 1,100 tonnes of RMD KWIKFORM equipment was on site.
